We acknowledge that we live and work on Treaty 7 territory—the traditional and ancestral territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Piikani and Siksika, as well as the Tsuu T’ina Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis Homeland. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We acknowledge that we are not the rightful owners of this land, but as settlers, descendants of thieves. We acknowledge the systematic attempted genocide of Indigenous people across this country, our role in the continued racism that exists in Canada, and our responsibility as Treaty people to begin the work of returning land, resources, governance, autonomy, culture, and children back to their traditional communities.
